Yasmine Jalali is a first-year undergraduate student who is pursuing a bachelor's degree in
Materials Science and Engineering. She is a MSE Research Scholar who aims to help with designing
a collagen-based scaffold that has been reinforced with cellulose nano-whiskers that are high in
purity and strength. Prior to beginning this semester’s project, during the summers of 2013 and
2014, Yasmine has worked with XRD machines, performed SEM techniques, and learned how to initiate
grain-size analysis with cellulose nano-whiskers and various soft materials. In addition to the
sciences, her particular interests (or as you may call it, liberal arts tendencies) revolve around
design, modern art, music, and cinema.
